I met Colin through mutual friends. He was in the navy and as soon as we met I knew he was going to be my husband. We had some tough times while courting as he was away a lot. I spent a lot of time stuck in telephone boxes, no mobiles then, spending time just talking not wishing it to end. When he did come back a few months later we got engaged. Then he went away again for 9 months. This time there were no phone boxes but we wrote regularly to each other. I had to hope he got my letters because I had no idea where he was. While he was away my sister and I sorted out our wedding. He came back on boxing day 1975 and we were married in 1976, on a lovely sunny but windy April day. We had a good marriage with lots of ups and downs like most couples but we always loved each other. We had three lovely children and he absolutely adored his grandchildren.
